Frequently Asked Questions
Are GolfStrawz similar to the rubber tees on hitting mats?
GolfStrawz look similar to rubber golf mat tees but are much thinner and made from a softer material. Typical golf mat tees are nearly 3x less flexible than our tees due to their increased diameter and wall thickness. GolfStrawz also has a unique spike allowing you to put the tee in the ground.
Why do you say "we Levitate your Ball", what does that mean...is that just a slogan....?
Having a tee that is the same size from top to bottom has a unique advantage, if it is of a flexible design. A properly stuck drive involves the golfer striking the ball with an upward swing. This is accomplished with proper tilting of the shoulders. This type of swing tilts the club upward, and pushes the bottom of the club face more forward. When the base of the club impacts the wide base of the tee, it bends the tee away from the ball, at the same time the ball is being deformed into the face of the club face. The tee has slightly moved forward and bent down at the time the ball leaves the club face, resulting in what we call "ball levitation" The tee is no longer touching the ball at the point in time the ball leaves the club face.
Are GolfStrawz hard to put in the ground?
GolfStrawz are not difficult to insert but can be slightly more difficult when compared to a typical tee. On soft ground, simply holding onto the side of the plastic spike allows you to insert the tee into the ground easily. On hard ground, we suggest you fold the rubber top to one side, allowing your thumb to rest on the flat top of the internal plastic spike, and push the tee into the ground. Again, it's a little more cumbersome than a typical tee, but the added benefits are worth it.
Can I change the length of my Golfstrawz?
You can shorten the top rubber piece using a razor blade; however, it is advised to use the functionality of the "screw-in base" of the spike end to adjust your height. By adjusting how much you screw the tee into the ground, you can adjust the overall height. If when fully inserted you find the "Bomber" tee too high, you should purchase the "Sniper" tee. The "Sniper" tee can then also be adjusted using the screw-in design.
